Beautiful Barcelona – Travel Photography

Barcelona. What a wonderful, beautiful place. I went on my very first European Vacation earlier this month, and we spent just about a week exploring this glorious city. The architecture is gorgeous. The people – locals as well as tourists from around the world – are delightful, and the food is out of this world. I look forward to returning someday, but in the meantime, here is just some of all that we took in on our journey — one of my first attempts at travel photography.

Park Guell

Antoni Gaudi’s Park Guell is one of the most iconic and unique destinations in Barcelona. Once inside, you feel a bit like you are trapped inside an enchanted forest, or a dream, or a cartoon, as I’ve seen it written. You can spend hours exploring the grounds, as we did — so be sure to bring your hiking gear (or at least some good sneakers) and provisions!

Basílica de la Sagrada Família

Another of Barcelona’s most famous spots, the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia is truly a must-see for all. I know nothing at all about architecture – but couldn’t help but be amazed by the awe-inspiring and elaborate detail of this holy structure — even in its state of perpetual construction. In that state it will remain for at least another ten years. The hubbie promises we will go back then to see the finished product. He will be held to that for sure !!

The Streets and Markets of Barcelona

Apart from our treks to Park Guell and Sagrada Familia, we spent our days and nights exploring Barcelona’s many neighborhoods – barrios or districts as they are known. Almost every district has a distinct look and feel — from ultra-crowded, high-end shopping areas to peaceful pedestrian malls and parks, to narrow, cobblestone alleyways and streets featuring mom and pop shops, pubs, and cafes. It feels as though you are being transported to a new place with every turn.

This is just a tiny slice of a bit of a whirlwind trip. If you ever have the chance to travel to Barcelona, do it without hesitation! Undoubtedly, the first thing anyone who has ever been there will say when they find out you are traveling there is: “Ohhhh!!! I looovveee Barcelona!” Now, I will too!
